Downloading and Installing the JRE

Before you begin downloading and installing Eclipse, you have to make sure you have the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) downloaded and installed on your machine. Because Eclipse as an application was written in Java, it requires the JRE to run. If the JRE is not installed or is not detected, you will see the following error if you try to open the Eclipse environment:

Eclipse E&3

A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK)

must be available in order to run Eclipse. No Java virtual machine

was found after searching the following locations:

C ;\An d ro i d\e c 1 i p s e\j re\b i n\j a vaw, exe

javaw.exe in your current PATH

OK l|

If you are an existing Java developer and already have Java installed on your computer, you will still want to follow along here, just to be sure you have the correct version of the JRE installed.
