Syncing with the Web Not the Desktop

One way in which you can sync your data is with some of the core apps that come with the phone. These core apps—Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, and so on—are web based, so you're not technically syncing them with your computer; you're using the applications on the web.

You can set syncing to happen automatically, or you can run a sync only when you want to. Here's how to set it up:

1. From the Home screen, open the apps menu and select Settings.

2. On the Settings screen that appears, touch Data Synchronization.

3. This opens the Data Synchronization page, shown in Figure 3.9. To have your Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts information sync automatically, make sure there is a check mark in the Auto-sync box. (Touch the box to check or uncheck it.)
