Counting the cost of an app before you start is simply wise. Going through the effort of performing a cost/benefit analysis will help you make a more sound decision about spending your hard-earned money developing and marketing an app that the buying community will want. The Android Market is cluttered with apps that provide no real value to Android users, and the chances of many apps breaking even or turning a profit are slim.

A breakeven analysis will help you determine how many apps you need to sell in order to turn a profit and start seeing money come through the door. A breakeven analysis will not help you predict the number of sales of your app. That information is gathered from other research that you do around your target audience and what buyers actually tell you they want. There is no exact science to this complicated area of pricing and predicting sales of your Android app, but a little up-front cost/benefit analysis can go a long way.
